Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed that 312,000 Indonesians aged 15 to 25 have been exposed to narcotics, based on the 2023 drug abuse prevalence rate of 1.73%, or 3.33 million people nationwide.
“The most common triggers for first-time drug use include peer pressure, curiosity to try new things, and living in environments prone to narcotics abuse,” said BNN Chief Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom on Saturday (9/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He stressed that the President and Vice President have placed anti-narcotics efforts as a key national priority under the Astacita program, reflecting the urgent and critical nature of Indonesia’s drug problem.
The BNN Chief urged the 5,000 freshmen attending the lecture to become agents of change by building resilience, refusing narcotics, reporting abuse, and forming anti-drug student task forces.
