inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit and  have again uncovered criminal acts of misuse of subsidized fuel and LPG between April 7 and 20, 2026. During that 13-day period, authorities arrested 330 suspects at 223 crime scenes.

This was conveyed at a press conference led by the Vice Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, accompanied by the Director of Criminal Investigation Units, Brigadier General Moh Irhamni, and attended by several representatives from relevant agencies on Tuesday (4/21/2026).

In his remarks, Nunung stated that the government continues to strive to maintain national energy security by maintaining stable prices for subsidized fuel and LPG to ensure they remain affordable for the public amidst global dynamics.

However, he emphasized that there are still those who misuse state subsidies for personal gain.

"The methods employed include hoarding, moving, mixing, modifying cylinders, manipulating transportation documents, and reselling at industrial prices to maximize profits," said Nunung Syaifuddin.

He emphasized that these actions constitute a betrayal of the public interest.

"Every liter of subsidized fuel and every misused LPG cylinder is actually the right of smallholder farmers, fishermen, traders, transportation drivers, and other vulnerable groups, which are being seized for the benefit of a handful of parties," he stressed.

Furthermore, the police emphasized that they will not give any room for perpetrators of crimes in the energy sector.

"Anyone involved, whether they are field operators, financiers, collectors, or behind-the-scenes actors, will be dealt with firmly and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," he continued.
