Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Six people died in a collision between a Toyota Rush SUV and a passenger train in Sumberejo Village, Merbau District Deli Serdang, North Sumatra,.on Sunday (21/7/2024).

Lubuk Pakam Sub-regional Police officers evacuated the deceased, with the bodies taken to Amri Tambunan Regional Hospital, while critically injured individuals were transported to Sari Mutiara Hospital in Lubuk Pakam, according to antaranews.com

The victims were identified as RM (51), GDM (28), STM (26), YM (24), DJM (22), and NMM (20). HM (52), RM's wife, was critically injured.

The collision happened around 12.15 pm when the Sri Bilah KA U51A train from Rantau Prapat to Medan struck the SUV at an unguarded crossing in Lubuk Pakam. The Toyota Rush was dragged 30 meters by the train.

Local police and villagers, along with the village head, assisted in evacuating the victims and securing the scene.
