Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported 29 people were injured after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Poso, Central Sulawesi, early Sunday (17/8/2025). 

Two victims are in critical condition and receiving intensive care at Poso Regional Hospital, as quoted by antaranews.com.

BNPB Chief Suharyanto said 13 people were referred to hospital, while six others received treatment at Tokorondo Community Health Center. 

As many as 37 houses across nine villages were reported damaged, including four severely. A church, Gereja Jemaat Elim in Masani Village, also sustained damage.

The tremor, which hit at 5.38 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km, was strongly felt for 15 seconds in several Poso districts, prompting residents to flee their homes. 

Authorities have deployed rapid response teams, with urgent needs including tents and medical supplies. Residents are urged to stay alert for aftershocks and prepare emergency kits.
