inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra.  The North Sumatra Regional Police uncovered 654 cases of violent theft and aggravated theft within a three-week period, from September 14 to October 4, 2026.

Of these hundreds of cases, the police arrested 712 suspects suspected of involvement in various thefts that disturbed the public.

Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan, stated that these disclosures are part of their commitment to maintaining public order and security while providing a sense of security to the community.

"Over the past three weeks, we have successfully uncovered 654 cases of violent theft and aggravated theft, involving 712 suspects. This demonstrates our commitment to taking firm action against any crime that disturbs the public," he said.

Of the total uncovered cases, 35 were thefts, with 43 suspects, while the remaining 619 were thefts, with 669 suspects.

Ferry explained that the cases were uncovered through various police measures, from investigations to prosecution of perpetrators suspected of involvement in the thefts.

In addition to law enforcement, the North Sumatra Regional Police also continue to intensify patrols in several areas deemed prone to security disturbances and crime.

"We are not only taking action after a crime has occurred, but also intensifying patrols as a preventative measure. The presence of personnel in the field is expected to provide a sense of security and prevent disturbances to public order and security," he said.

According to Ferry, collaboration between the police and the community is crucial in preventing crime. By prioritizing law enforcement, patrols, and preventive measures, the North Sumatra Regional Police hope that crime rates, particularly theft and burglary, can continue to be suppressed.
