Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government repatriated 91 Indonesians from Syria in the latest evacuation wave on 20 and 21 December 2024, bringing the total number of evacuees from Syria to 156.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday (21/12/2024) that most of the evacuees were migrant workers, students, and scholars from several provinces, including Aceh, North Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara.
The evacuees were first transported from Damascus to Beirut, Lebanon, by land with security escort before being flown back to Indonesia in three separate flights.
The Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus continue to track and gather information on any remaining Indonesians in Syria who have not yet reported, according to antaranews.com.
Indonesians staying in Syria are urged to stay informed about the situation, prioritize their safety, avoid unnecessary political involvement, and maintain communication with the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus.
Families with relatives in Syria are encouraged to contact the Ministry or the Indonesian Embassy for assistance.
