inp.polri.go.id -  An earthquake with the strength of 7.2 magnitude rocked the east coast of Taiwan on Sunday (18/09/2022). The magnitude of the earthquake was revealed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). However, different report was stated Taiwan's weather agency which said the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8. The US Tsunami Warning Center also issued a warning after the earthquake in Taiwan. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. The impact of the earthquake damage is also unknown. This is not the first earthquake in Taiwan, as the island itself has experienced lots of earthquakes in the past. In June, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 rocked the east coast of Taiwan. At the time, Taiwan's weather bureau reported that the depth of the quake was 6.8 kilometers with an epicenter in Hualien County, a sparsely populated part of the island. An earthquake also occurred last May in Taiwan. At that time the strength of the earthquake reached a magnitude of 6.3. While in previous years, earthquakes caused hundreds of people to die. In 2016, more than 100 people died in an earthquake that rocked southern Taiwan. Then in 1999, Taiwan was hit by a great earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 which caused more than 2,000 people died.
