Based on the current information received, the initial investigation stated that the incident was caused by a smoke from burning land by some people, causing a driver of a SUV car could not see the road ahead. “The accident happened because of some people burning grass at the edge of the toll road, causing the drivers could not see the road,” said the Head of Public Relations of Central Java Police, Commissioner Iqbal Alqudussy. He continued that the driver then suddenly brake the car due to the smoke, causing the cars behind crash the car. Several other vehicles behind suddenly swerved into a different lane, but unfortunately there was not enough space to dodge, so they hit the road divider and caused a series of accidents. "Members are evacuating and gathering all the information regarding the casualties of the incident, a full report will follow," explained the Head of Central Java Regional Police Public Relations.
