inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) emphasized that accelerated post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction must be supported by detailed, accurate, and name-by-address multi-sectoral damage data collection.

BNPB Head Suharyanto stated that this data collection is crucial as it serves as the primary basis for planning recovery programs and disbursing aid to disaster-affected communities.

"This is a follow-up to the President's directive to ensure that accelerated recovery in disaster-affected areas, including in West Sumatra, is effective, measurable, and coordinated across ministries, institutions, and local governments," explained Suharyanto on Wednesday (1/14/2026).

He stated that the emergency response in West Sumatra has not shown any increase in fatalities. However, 72 people are still missing and 10,854 are displaced, while all regencies/cities have entered the transition phase from emergency to recovery.

"All affected areas have entered the recovery transition phase. Logistics support, air operations, and weather modification operations continue in accordance with recommendations from relevant ministries and agencies," he said.

Suharyanto added that national road access is relatively well-connected, although some sections, such as Padang Panjang-Sicincin, remain limited. Adjustments to heavy equipment requirements are also ongoing, including the option of shifting equipment to other provinces as needed.

Furthermore, the preparation of technical documents, such as the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) and Budget Plan (RAB), requires the involvement of consultants and academics in accordance with regulations to ensure the quality of rehabilitation and reconstruction planning.

The main obstacles in disaster relief effort include limited land and data discrepancies in several areas, requiring further validation, including the establishment of disaster-safe zones.

BNPB affirms its commitment to continuously overseeing the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction through solid and coordinated task force work, with priority setting and resource support tailored to regional needs.
