Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. Aceh Governor Muzakir “Mualem” Manaf and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Afif Nasution have formally extended their provinces’ disaster emergency status after severe hydrometeorological events caused widespread casualties and damage across both regions.
“The situation on the ground still requires coordinated emergency measures,” Governor Mualem said on Wednesday (10/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
In Aceh, the extension covers 12 to 25 December 2025 following floods and landslides that affected more than 1.9 million residents, displaced over 817,000 people, and damaged homes, public facilities, and key transport routes. Authorities are continuing mass evacuation, logistics distribution, and critical infrastructure repair.
North Sumatra’s extension, effective 11 to 24 December 2025, follows ongoing floods, landslides, and recent seismic activity affecting 18 districts and cities. The provincial emergency command post is prioritizing access restoration, healthcare support, and shelter management as heavy rainfall is expected to persist.
