Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Wednesday (10/12/2025) urged the public to remain calm yet vigilant as tropical cyclone seed 91S develops over the Indian Ocean west of Lampung.

“The system may increase rainfall and wave heights, but its potential to intensify into a tropical cyclone remains low,” BMKG Chief Teuku Faisal Fathani said, as reported by antaranews.com.

BMKG’s analysis shows 91S is influencing moderate to heavy rainfall across Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, and Lampung, alongside heightened waves from western Nias to southern Banten and the southern Sunda Strait. The agency stressed that 91S is unlikely to track toward Indonesian land, unlike past systems, and its movement is expected to shift south-southwest beginning December 11 before moving away from the region on December 12.

BMKG continues coordinating with relevant agencies to strengthen mitigation measures and advises coastal communities, shipping, and fisheries sectors to heed warnings on heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves.
