inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Acting Governor of Aceh Safrizal affirms the commitment in supporting the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) event to success.

The biggest sporting event in Indonesia will officially be opened by President Joko Widodo on September 9th, 2024 at Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Lhong Raya, Banda Aceh City.

Safrizal asked for officials and task forces in the region to work together in supporting the event as best as possible, including welcoming the guests. Authorities are urged to show their best character and invite the public to welcome the guests warmly.

“This event will show our true character to the whole nation,” notes Safrizal during a morning rally at Aceh Governor office field on Monday (8/26/2024).

He also stressed that most XXI PON committees are led by Aceh's own apparatus, except for certain events, which makes the responsibility in ensuring PON a success lies entirely in the hands of the Aceh Government.

“I am sure, and I believe that we can do this, on one condition that we are working together on this,” continued Safrizal.

The XXI Aceh-North Sumatra will present 65 sporting tournaments with 33 of them in Aceh and 34 in North Sumatra.
