inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Secretary of the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Hani Syopiar Rustam reminds the Civil Registration Office across Indonesia to be more careful in issuing new Population Identification Number (NIK).
“Officials are urged to be careful in issuing new NIK numbers to those above the age of 20 years old, or 30 and 40. Double check their profile, their date of birth, their parents name, their biometrics,” says Hani on Monday (8/26/2024).
According to Hani, at this time of age, it is rare for an adult who did not have NIK. He is concerned that the new issuance of NIK for adults was misused by foreigners.
“Furthermore, the 2024 Regional Head Election looms ahead. This is our political moment and we should not let our data be stained by irresponsible individuals,” continued Hani.
He believes that the new issuance of NIK will only bother everyone involved considering public data were locked with biometrics.
“If there is someone who asked for new NIK issuance although they already have one, it would result in data duplication. This case would make us unable to issue the digital ID Card and also they would be having difficulties in accessing public service,” says Hani.
Furthermore, Secretary Hani asked the Dukcapil Service to complete the recording of electronic KTPs ahead of the 2024 Regional Head Election. He also asked that invalid electronic KTP forms be routinely destroyed.
