Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The 23rd Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) held at the State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo in Semarang, Central Java, concluded with the formulation of the "Semarang Charter," consisting of nine key points of agreement.
Prof. Nizar Ali, the Acting Rector of UIN Walisongo Semarang and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, presented the Semarang Charter on Saturday night (3/2/2024).
The charter encapsulated the consensus reached by religious leaders and figures from various countries during AICIS 2024.
Prof. Nizar had the opportunity to read the charter in both Arabic and Indonesian, with the nine points of the Semarang Charter displayed in English on the stage's backdrop.
AICIS, held from 1-4 February 2024, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, served as a platform for international Muslim intellectuals to devise solutions for various global humanitarian issues.
Under the theme "Redefining The Roles of Religion in Addressing Human Crisis: Encountering Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Issues," this year's AICIS aimed to explore avenues for achieving peace, justice, and mutual respect.
The conference brought together rectors from state and private Islamic universities across Indonesia, religious leaders, and hundreds of international Islamic scholars.
