inp.polri.go.id - Papua. Police are attempting to reach the location of the shooting incident on the Smart Air flight PK-SNR. The shooting, suspected to have been carried out by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB), occurred this morning.

The Head of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, explained that the geographical location is a challenge in reaching the scene.

"The Papua Regional Police and the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operations team are currently consolidating their response to this incident. They are expected to arrive at the scene as soon as possible, adapting to the challenges of the geographical conditions and access," Johnny explained on Wednesday (2/11/2026).

Johnny explained that the incident resulted in two fatalities, including the pilots. All passengers managed to escape.

"According to field information, both pilots died. Meanwhile, all passengers are safe, 13 passengers, including one toddler," said the Head of Public Relations.
