The body of the victim, identified as Edward (51) from Pennsylvania, USA, was found on Tuesday.
Inspector Ketut Sukadi, the Denpasar Police Head of Public Relations, said that his body was initially discovered by a French tourist, identified D'armali DD Bernito.
He alerted local residents, who then notified the South Kuta Police Office.
Authorities found a black Yamaha N Max motorcycle, registered DK 4538 AEE, parked nearby. Inspection revealed a rental car number under the seat, indicating that the motorcycle had been rented for two months but had not been paid for by the victim, according to antaranews.com.
Search and recovery efforts located the body, which was wedged among rocks beneath a steep cliff. The recovery process took considerable time due to the challenging location.
The police continued to investigate the cause of his death.
