Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Erick Thohir, the Chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), has granted the Anti-Mafia Football Task Force unrestricted access to report their investigative findings directly to President Joko Widodo.
Speaking during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/9/2023), he stated, "I'm opening the door for the Anti-Mafia Football Task Force to deliver their findings directly to the President, and of course, to FIFA."
At the direction of the President, Chairman Erick appointed Maruarar Sirait as the head of the Anti-Mafia Football Task Force, whose mission is to eradicate match-fixing practices and mafia influence within Indonesian football.
The task force includes Maruarar, former Chairman of the Steering Committee for the President's Cup 2015-2019; journalist Najwa Shihab; former Chairman of BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency) Ardan Adiperdana; and Save Our Soccer (SOS) coordinator Akmal Marhali.
Chairman Erick stressed that PSSI, under his leadership, is fully transparent and welcomes investigation by the Anti-Mafia Football Task Force in cases of suspected misconduct.
"I'm completely open to any investigations directly concerning my administration. I can be held accountable, and there will be no concealment, as long as the intentions are for the betterment of Indonesian football," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying.
Maruarar that the task force would coordinate with law enforcement agencies such as the police and the prosecutors, as well as with reputable auditors. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
