Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), has called on the Indonesian Military and the Indonesian National Police (INP) to proactively detect the movements of the armed criminal group (KKB) Kodap 35 Bintang Timur aimed at preventing civilian casualties.
Bamsoet emphasized, "We must detect KKB movements early to maintain security in the surrounding areas," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying on Wednesday (20/9/2023).
Local administration in Papua has already engaged in early detection efforts while bolstering security throughout the entire Papua region. The Papua Regional Police, working alongside the Indonesian Military units, have been urged to swiftly respond to KKB actions by deploying forces to reinforce security.
The MPR Chairman stressed the importance of law enforcement taking decisive action against KKB members involved in acts of terror or criminal activities that disrupt community peacee, alling onthe Indonesian Military and INP to remain vigilant in safeguarding areas targeted by KKB and to seek support from local community for information on KKB movements that threaten Papua's security.
These actions come in response to KKB activities earlier on Monday, resulting in casualties, including the loss of Damai Cartenz Task Force personnel First Brigadier Rudi Agung Ashari. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
