Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang.  The Atambua Immigration Office in Belu, East Nusa Tenggara, has launched a Foreign Nationals Monitoring Team (Timpora) in Musi District, Central North Timor, near the Timor-Leste border.

The initiative aims to strengthen interagency cooperation in managing border security challenges, according to antaranews.com.

“Timpora reflects collaboration among agencies to address the unique security needs of our border areas,” said Indra Maulana Dimyati, Head of the Atambua Immigration Office.

Strategically positioned between the Napan and Haumeniana border posts, Musi District is a critical transit area for both nations. Enhanced cooperation aims to curb illegal crossings, trafficking, and other security risks.

Musi District Head Yohanis K. Olin highlighted challenges due to close cultural ties with Timor-Leste’s Pasabe District, complicating monitoring efforts. “Our communities are closely connected, making structured oversight essential,” he remarked.

Supporting this, the Western Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) maintains 16 border posts and remains vigilant for emerging threats. Timpora’s collaboration, backed by efficient interagency communication, strengthens the region’s security readiness.
