Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang- The Atambua Immigration Office in Belu regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has deported six East Timorese through the Wini Border Crossing Post in North Timor Tengah (TTU) regency.
Reza Riansyah Abdullah, the Head of the Information and Communication Technology Section at the Atambua Immigration Office, said on Monday (5/8/2024) that the deported individuals were identified as ADS (23), NS (20), JMS (59), JSL (17), SS (2), and DAA (28).
“They were arrested by the NTT Mobile Brigade officers while patrolling the Indonesia-East Timor border,” he explained, as reported by antaranews.com.
The six were arrested on 1 August 2024, after attempting to enter Indonesia illegally. They were found without valid travel documents and had not gone through immigration checks at the Wini Border Crossing Post.
Reza added that the East Timorese were taken to the Atambua Class II Immigration Office for further investigation. They intended to visit family in Wini, Indonesia, but lacked valid passports and visas.
As a result, they were found to have violated Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. They face administrative penalties, including deportation and a six-month entry ban to Indonesia.
