First Inspector I Gusti Made Berata, the Tabanan SUb-regional Police Head of Public Relations said the victim, identified as Zivari Giancarlo (49)and his girlfriend, Biagi Ilaria, had traveled from Hotel Homm Saranam to visit Gajah Mas Villa and made a brief stop at a local market before heading to the waterfall.
Upon arrival at the viewing area, which was about 500 meters below the villa, Giancarlo and Biagi reached a platform with wooden seats and a metal railing. Giancarlo used the railing for support while taking a selfie.
The railing unexpectedly collapsed, causing both Giancarlo and Biagi to fall approximately 25 meters to the base of the waterfall. Biagi, who sustained minor injuries, managed to climb back up to the villa and seek help.
Ukrainian guest Sokoliuk Viktoria, who was staying at the villa, and the villa’s security team assisted Biagi and brought her to the villa’s lobby for medical help. Giancarlo was later taken to Baturiti Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s family declined an autopsy and accepted the incident as a tragic accident, Berata confirmed.
