Authorities Neutralized a Member of KKB in Puncak Jaya

inp.polri.go.id - Puncak Jaya. Personnel from the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Puncak Jaya Sector, successfully subdued a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), identified as O.E. alias M.E., in Wuyukwi Village on Monday (4/20/2026) at approximately 4:15 PM.

O.E. was listed as a wanted person (DPO) based on Letter Number: DPO/S-34/04/IV/2024/Reskrim dated April 25, 2024, in connection with the shooting that resulted in the death of Elang Task Force member, Sergeant Anumerta Ismunandar, on March 17, 2024, in Kulirik Village, Muara District.

In response, the Head of Public Relations for the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, when met by the media, explained that this action was carried out through a measured process based on field monitoring results.

"The action was taken after personnel conducted surveillance and successfully identified the target's location. While being apprehended, the suspect attempted to flee by resisting officers, so firm and measured action was taken in accordance with procedures," he said on Tuesday (4/21/2026).

This action is part of law enforcement efforts against perpetrators of armed violence that have been disrupting security in the Puncak Jaya area.

The action was taken after the task force conducted surveillance and successfully identified the target's location in Wuyukwi Village. During the arrest, the suspect attempted to flee by resisting officers, forcing officers to take firm and measured action in accordance with procedures. This resulted in O.E. sustaining a gunshot wound to the right armpit that penetrated the right back of his body.

The perpetrator was then apprehended and immediately evacuated to Mulia Regional Hospital for medical treatment. However, he was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m.

Regarding the results of the action, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo emphasized that the steps taken were part of law enforcement against perpetrators of armed violence.

"The perpetrator was successfully subdued and received medical treatment, but was later pronounced dead. This action is part of law enforcement efforts against armed groups that disrupt security stability," he explained.
