inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government has affirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive protection for domestic workers through the Domestic Worker Protection Bill (RUU PPRT).

Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that domestic workers must be recognized as workers with equal rights to workers in general.

"The government is committed to recognizing domestic workers as workers with the same basic rights as workers in general. This protection covers all, from before employment, during employment, and after the employment relationship ends, including dispute resolution mechanisms," explained Yassierli on Tuesday (4/21/2026).

As part of the legislative process, the Ministry of Manpower has submitted the Issue Inventory List (DIM) for the RUU PPRT to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

He emphasized that the concept of decent work for domestic workers is an important foundation of the regulation. He believes that domestic workers need to be guaranteed a living wage, regulated working hours and rest periods, the right to leave, and protection from discrimination and violence, including guarantees of occupational safety and health.

"The government strongly agrees with the inclusion of domestic workers as workers in general, who are entitled to rights in accordance with human dignity and worth," he said.

He explained that the characteristics of domestic workers' employment relationships are unique, influenced by social and cultural factors, as well as the diverse backgrounds of service users. Therefore, the regulations drafted must be able to provide comprehensive protection.
