inp.polri.go.id - Palangka Raya. The Central Kalimantan Regional Police are strengthening their handling of wildfire by deploying three companies of Mobile Brigade personnel to assist with extinguishing, patrolling, and monitoring in several fire-prone areas.

Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan, stated that the deployment of personnel under operational control (BKO) was carried out to further improve officer preparedness in dealing with potential fires that are still occurring in several areas.

"This additional personnel is expected to support extinguishing efforts, patrolling, and monitoring in areas still facing the threat of fire," he said in Palangka Raya, Wednesday (10/28/2026).

The three companies of mobile brigade personnel were deployed to strengthen forest and land fire management in priority areas, particularly Pulang Pisau Regency and West Kotawaringin Regency, including the Tanjung Puting National Park area.

Iwan emphasized that handling forest and land fires requires cooperation from all parties, including the local government, the Indonesian National Police (INP), the Indonesian National Military (TNI), firefighters, and the community. This cooperation is needed to expedite firefighting efforts and prevent new hotspots from emerging.

Although rain has begun to fall and several hotspots have been extinguished, vigilance remains heightened. The potential for hot weather in the coming week must be anticipated to prevent the fires from spreading again.

"I see that the rainfall has been frequent and many hotspots have been extinguished, but there are still several areas that we need to be vigilant about," said Iwan.

According to the Central Kalimantan Fire and Disaster Management Agency (BPBPK) daily report on Tuesday, the area of forest and land fires handled within 24 hours reached 37.94 hectares.

In the field, the forest and land fire task force continues to extinguish fires, cool down, and conduct regular patrols. These measures aim to ensure hotspots are contained, prevent the spread of fires, and reduce the risk of fires re-igniting in areas that have already been extinguished.

In addition to strengthening personnel, mitigation efforts are also being carried out through Weather Modification Operations (OMC). This activity involved the Forest and Land Fire Task Force together with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and the Indonesian Air Force.
