Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Good news came from UNESCO as Indonesian has officially became the official language of the international organization. This was stated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo from his official X account. “This acknowledgement fills our pride as Indonesians,” wrote Jokowi in his X account on Thursday following the decision of UNESCO General Assembly. The 42nd UNESCO General Assembly, by acclamation recognize Indonesian as an official language that can be used in the general assembly of the institution. Jokowi states that UNESCO acknowledges Indonesian language through a resolution titled "Recognition of Indonesian as an Official Language of The General Conference of UNESCO". “Indonesian Language has become the 10th official language acknowledged by UNESCO General Assembly along with other six UN official languages (English, Arabic, Mandarin, French, Spanish, Russian), as well as Hindi, Italians, and Portuguese,” Jokowi adds. With UNESCO acknowledging Indonesia as the official language, Indonesian language could be later used during meetings, and the official documents of UNESCO. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
