Vice Chief of Corruption Preventive Special Task Force of Indonesian National Police (INP) Novel Baswedan supports his institution to immediately uncovers the alleged extortion case of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri to the former Ministry of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). “Let us hope that INP could immediately uncover the case of Firli,” says Novel in his written statement on Thursday (11/21/2023). As the former senior investigator of KPK, Novel says that the stories of a counter attack from the corruptor said by Firli sounds suspiciously fake. “Well as you can see, we have not seen any KPK employee or anti-corruption activist who supports Firli,” adds Novel. Moreover, Novel assessed that the statement from Firli seems using the anti-corruption institution as his shield, and projecting it is not Firli who is at fault, but KPK is. “Other former KPK chair should have angered when Firli used KPK as his shield, when he was reported for his own criminal actions,” calls Novel.
