Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Civil Aviation has confirmed that a helicopter crash in Bali on Friday afternoon (19/7/2024) at 3.33 pm local time, was caused by entanglement with a kite string.

Mokhammad Khusnu, the Head of International Cooperation and Public Relations at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, said that they had received a report on the incident involving a Bell 505 helicopter, registered as PK-WSP, belonging to PT Whitesky Aviation.

"The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has received a report that the PK-WSP Bell 505 helicopter crashed at Suluban Beach, Pecatu, South Kuta - Bali, on Friday, 19 July 2024, at 3.33 pm due to a kite string entanglement," he explained, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The helicopter carried one pilot and four passengers.

"Initial information confirms that all passengers survived the accident," he added.

Aviation inspectors from the Airport Authority Region IV are currently en route to the crash site, and Whitesky Aviation has also dispatched an investigation team. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The Ministry of Transportation will intensify awareness and supervision regarding the dangers of kites, coordinating with local officials in Bali to ensure flight safety.
