Vice Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Andre Rosiade, believes that Bank Mandiri's actions regarding the Pati activist's account, valued at approximately IDR 80 million, have complied with applicable legal procedures and provisions.
Andre emphasized that state-owned banks cannot make unilateral decisions, especially regarding the restriction or blocking of customer accounts.
According to him, every banking action must be based on a basis and follow established mechanisms.
"It's definitely impossible for Bank Himbara to make unilateral decisions. Everything follows applicable procedures and regulations, including banking procedures," Andre said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (8/24/2026).
Regarding the Pati activist's account, which was reportedly blocked at the direction of law enforcement officials (APH), Andre believes that such a step can, in principle, be taken if there is a request from the authorities.
He stated that the bank can follow up on requests according to applicable authorities and procedures, including those from law enforcement officials, the Directorate General of Taxes, Customs and Excise, and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
Nevertheless, Andre admitted that he would ask Bank Mandiri for an explanation directly to determine the true nature of the matter.
"If there's a request, the bank will certainly comply with existing procedures. We'll just have to confirm the truth later," he said.
Andre reiterated that the policy regarding the account could not have been issued without basis. He also asked the public not to be concerned about the issue.
"Yes, I don't think the public should be concerned. Once again, Bank Mandiri and other banks will implement and adopt policies in accordance with existing procedures and legal regulations," he said.
According to Andre, the implementation of good corporate governance principles requires banks to ensure that every important decision has a clear basis.
