inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government has eliminated imports of strategic staple food commodities such as rice, consumer sugar, and corn feed. This is in line with the National Food Agency (Bapanas)'s statement that Indonesia has achieved rice self-sufficiency by 2025.

The Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization at Bapanas, I Gusti Ketut Astawa, emphasized that the government is maintaining price balance at the farmer and consumer levels. He stated that the price of unhusked rice is currently at a profitable level.

"The price of harvested dry unhusked rice (GKP) at the farmer level has reached IDR 6,500 per kilogram, up from IDR 4,000 per kilogram. We have been working diligently to raise this price," he said, as reported by RRI on Monday (1/5/2026).

He also emphasized that on the consumer side, he ensures the government continues to monitor rice prices to ensure they do not exceed the established limits. This monitoring is carried out through market operations and intervention by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog).

"If rice prices exceed the highest retail price (HET), we will immediately intervene. No one is allowed to manipulate prices," he said.

He explained that the national rice stock at the beginning of 2026 reached 12.529 million tons, including the 3.248 million tons of Bulog government rice reserves. This stock is the capital for controlling market prices.

According to him, rice production will continue until the main harvest. This condition is considered to further restrain the potential for price increases. 

"The harvest will begin in March, and the main harvest will be in April. This also indicates that we will be even stronger in 2026," he concluded.
