Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) team from Banda Aceh handed over on Thursday (21/3/2024) the rescued Rohingya refugees to the Immigration authorities of Meulaboh and the West Aceh Regency regency.
They had been rescued from a capsized ship near Meulaboh.
According to Fatur, theHead of Operations at Basarnas in Banda Aceh, said that among the 69 boat passengers were several Bangladeshi nationals.
Found around 21 nautical miles northwest of Meulaboh, the victims, though safe, were dehydrated and exhausted, he said.
The evacuation, reported by antaranews.com, took three hours, with all victims transferred to authorities by 2 pm at Meulaboh's Jetty Port.
