The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) invites the disabled people to join the 2024 democracy festive as they have the same rights as the others in the election. “The rights for the disabled to vote and voted has been written in Article 5 Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, This is the rights that has been given and emphasized in the regulation,” says Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty in her written statement on Saturday (12/6/2023). She also pushed KPU to provide easy access at the voting location for the disabled to vote. “Article 350 paragraph (2) Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections have explained about the accessibility for the disabled, so come to your voting location as we have prepared everything to help the disabled,” she said. Moreover she states that Bawaslu had suggested KPU to design a ballot with a braille for the disabled. Loly also ensures Bawaslu would monitor the ballots of the disabled to be distributed safely to the voting location. “Bawaslu will continue and guarantees that KPU would accommodate the necessity for the disabled to cast their vote,” says Loly in her closing statement.
