The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of Purworejo Regency, Central Java, is conducting an investigation into a campaign video featuring two underage children still in school uniforms. Rinto Hariyadi, a Bawaslu Purworejo member, stated on Friday (15/12/23), "We have received reports from the public about a viral video, supposedly created by underage schoolchildren, urging people to vote for a specific legislative candidate." He said that Bawaslu Purworejo obtained the video from TikTok, allegedly downloaded from the officially registered KPU account @kangabdullah72. The video's location was traced to Sejiwan Tegal hamlet at the intersection of Kali Nongko, Trirejo Village, Loano Subdistrict. He further clarified that one of the individuals in the video is purportedly the child of a legislative candidate with the initials MA, running for the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) in Purworejo Regency. Candidate MA is suspected of violating Election Law Article 280(2)(k) and Election Criminal Provisions Article 493, which stipulates imprisonment for up to 1 year and a fine of up to 12 million.
