Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, Vice Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation, requires heads of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) to enter into a written agreement with the principals of beneficiary schools regarding the best time limit for consuming the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) meals.

"You make an agreement with the school: one, this meal must be consumed when it arrives at seven o'clock and the latest time the meal can be  consumed, and two, it cannot be taken home. God willing, if this is implemented, it will reduce the impact," explained Nanik on Monday (1/26/2026).

Nanik highlighted the numerous food safety incidents in various regions due to the consumption of food past its expiry date.

She added that an agreement regarding the time and place for consuming the MBG meals between the SPPG head and the beneficiary school principal is necessary to ensure that oversight of distribution and consumption is a shared responsibility.

"The SPPG must be punctual in distributing the MBG meals to schools, while the schools must also monitor the distribution, time, and place of consumption," said BGN Vice Head.

Despite the agreement, Nanik still recommended that continuous announcements regarding the best time and place for consumption, both verbally and in writing, be made. Announcements can be posted in schools, while labels can be placed on food items.

"Labels need to be put up, indicating the best time to consume them. Labeling equipment is also inexpensive," he concluded.
