inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested CR (20) and AMS (20), suspects of synthetic drug abuse in liquid form. The contraband was placed inside vape cartridges at an apartment on MH Thamrin street, Kebon Melati, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/23/2026).

Officers seized evidence from the suspects, including 14 liquid cartridges containing synthetic substances, six used cartridges, a pipe, a small digital scale, and three gas canisters.

The Head of the West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Superintendent Vernal Armando Sambo, explained that the case stemmed from information and public concern regarding alleged drug abuse activities. 

Following up on the report, the police conducted an investigation that led to an apartment in the MH Thamrin area.

"The team found two individuals behaving suspiciously, based on the information received. They were subsequently arrested and searched, and several pieces of narcotics evidence were found," explained Vernal when confirmed on Tuesday (1/27/2026).

Based on the initial investigation, the perpetrators admitted that they purchased the synthetic liquid online on January 2, 2026, using a transfer method and picked it up in Sukabumi. The perpetrators claimed the narcotics were for personal consumption and were not intended for sale.

"Currently, the three perpetrators have been detained at the police station for further legal proceedings," he said.

They are being charged under Article 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and Articles 609 and 610 of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
