Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) announced on Tuesday (31/3/2026) that the Nutritious Free Meal (MBG) program will distribute fresh meals to students five days a week, while adopting a dry-food strategy for remote areas.

"Fresh meals are distributed for only five days for school children, whereas remote regions will receive dry food items like milk, fruit, and bread," said BGN Deputy for Public Communication Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, as cited by antaranews.com.

The policy aims to maintain food quality and freshness by adapting to the geographical and logistical challenges of Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions. While students receive fresh daily servings, beneficiaries in these remote zones are provided with storable, non-processed staples that are easier to transport without complex infrastructure.

Meanwhile, distribution for high-risk groups, including pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers, will continue through the standard six-day schedule until Saturday to ensure consistent nutritional support.
