During this period, Bhayangkara FC only managed to win one match, with five draws and three consecutive losses in their last three matches. COO Bhayangkara Sumardji announced the decision on Thursday (29/2/2024), citing the team's need for a fundamental change, antaranews.com reported. He explained that upon evaluating the team's unfavorable development, they jointly decided to terminate Gomez's contract. The decision came one day before their match against Madura United in the continuation of Liga 1 Indonesia week 27. Sumardji highlighted that the contract with Gomez had clauses prohibiting consecutive draws or losses. With the team experiencing three consecutive losses, they mutually agreed that if the team failed to recover, the contract would automatically end. Regarding Gomez's replacement, he refrained from mentioning specific names but said that they were seeking an experienced coach in Indonesia. Gomes de Oliveira, a Brazilian coach who attended Bhayangkara's training session that day, emerged as a potential candidate He has previously coached several clubs in Indonesia, including Madura United, Persiram Raja Ampat, Persela Lamongan, and Persiwa Wamena.
