In his remarks released by the US Embassy in Jakarta, Biden also stated that Indonesia and America share the same motto that upholds unity. "On behalf of the United States and the American people, I congratulate you and the people of Indonesia as you celebrate your nation's independence on August 17," Biden said in his remarks. "As the world's two largest democracies, the United States and Indonesia celebrate this milestone amid a long and shared history built on our shared vision of 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' and 'E Pluribus Unum'," Biden said the two mottos underscore the importance of inclusiveness in building bridges in diverse societies. Bhineka Tunggal Ika means unity in diversity. Meanwhile, E Pluribus Unum means "out of many, one" or even though there are many, it is still one. On that occasion, Biden expressed his hope that cooperation and relations between the US-Indonesia can continue to get stronger. "On this Indonesian Independence Day, I look forward to all that our two countries will do in the future to advance our shared commitment and work to build a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient Indo-Pacific region," Biden said. "The United States celebrates this joyful day with you (Jokowi) as a friend and strategic partner," wrote Biden in conclusion.
