Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) uncovered a cross-island drug trafficking network linking North Sumatra and Central Sulawesi, seizing 985 ecstasy pills and hundreds of vape liquids suspected to contain narcotics.
The operation followed the discovery of a suspicious package at Kualanamu Airport, leading investigators to a boarding house in Medan.
BNN Chief Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto revealed that vapes were being used as a disguise for drug distribution.
“Vape is no longer just a lifestyle item, it has become a cover for narcotics circulation. This is a serious alarm for all of us,” he said on Sunday (26/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Chief Suyudi warned that drug-laced vape liquids could unknowingly expose young users to addictive and neurotoxic substances. Laboratory analysis is ongoing to confirm the chemical content.
BNN has coordinated with the Ministry of Finance’s Customs Directorate and the Health Ministry to strengthen monitoring of vape liquid circulation, especially unregistered imports entering through online logistics.
