Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has discovered a clandestine drug laboratory in Gianyar, Bali.

Brigadier General Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono, the BNN's Head of Public Relations, said on Monday (22/7/2024) that the lab was operated by both foreign nationals and Indonesian operators. 

"The lab contained narcotics such as Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), fentanyl, and other substances," he said.

During the operation, BNN arrested a Filipino national, identified as DAS, while another suspect, a Jordanian identified as AMI, remains at large.

The lab, located in a villa on Keliki Street, Payangan, was found to house various types of drugs, though specific details about the quantities and other substances were not disclosed. 

It marks the first discovery of Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in Indonesia. DMT, a psychedelic compound found in plants and animals, is used both recreationally and in rituals for its hallucinogenic effects.

The lab's discovery was made possible through BNN's cyber patrol efforts.
