inp.polri.go.id - Garut. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Garut Regency has revoked the earthquake emergency response status. This decision was announced after 14 days of dealing with the earthquake-affected areas. Now the community has returned to their normal activities.

"The status has been revoked. Now it has changed to an emergency transition to recovery," said the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Garut Regency, Aah Anwar Saefuloh on Wednesday (10/2/2024).

In his statement, he revealed that the Garut Regency Government had previously set an emergency response status for 14 days. This was in response to the 5.0 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday (9/18/2024).

He said that the regional government had revoked the emergency response status considering that conditions in the earthquake-affected areas in Garut Regency were already returned to normal.

"Now that there are no more issues in the affected area, everything has returned to normal. So, the status now is no longer in an emergency condition," he said.

He further said that the next step was to recover. Recovery is set for the next four months while still getting monitoring from the local government.

During the transition period, he continued, the physical repair process will be carried out such as houses and other public facility buildings. Likewise, it is still possible to distribute aid from donors to help earthquake victims in Garut.

During the emergency response, all levels of the local government, TNI, Polri, and volunteers went to the earthquake-affected location. They helped the community by preparing public kitchens, emergency tents, and other basic needs.
