The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) has laid out an extensive plan to defend and against external cyber attacks and bolster the security of the General Election Commission's (KPU) computer systems, an official said. The agency's spokesperson, Ariandi Putra, said on Tuesday (24/10/2023) that BSSN will deploy their computer security incident response team (CSIRT) to monitor and prevent potential cyber attacks during the election season. "We have created road maps and various frameworks. We have divided them into three scopes, namely, before the elections, during the elections, and after the elections," he told antaranews.com after the 2023 Security Day event . BSSN has been prepared to deploy a tactical team to execute recoveries in the event of cyber incidents. To enhance the protection of the KPU's system against data breaches and manipulation, BSSN has developed a comprehensive scheme based on cyber security threat trends in 2023. This scheme accounts for various types of cyberattacks, including technical ones like website defacement, malware attacks, and phishing, as well as social attacks, such as hoaxes and indoctrination, including those driven by artificial intelligence. Ariandi added that the agency has built partnerships with various stakeholders, including the Indonesian Military, the Indonesian National Police (INP), the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the KPU, and the Ministry of Communication and Information.
