The Chief Director of Bulog, Bayu Krisnamurthi, pledges to meet the rice demand of Indonesia for this year Ramadhan and Eid Al-Fitr. “Bulog has sufficient rice stock for the people, particularly ahead the holy month of Ramadhan and Eid Al-Fitr,” said Bayu on Tuesday (2/20/2024). Furthermore, Bayu emphasized that his party routinely gave their rice supply to various distribution channel, both for Rice Food Assistance Program and Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) to meet the community demand. As for now, said Bayu, there are 1,2 million tons rice stock available. According to him, to meet the demands of the community, other than providing food supply for February and March, Bulog also continue to push the rice distribution to various channels including, Cipinang Rice Main Market, traditional market, and modern retails. “The demand for modern retail has been met for the past week, so people should be able to get the rice quite easily,” said Bayu. On the other hand, Head of National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi says that the government vows to take many efforts in balancing the rice price in the market so that the producers and consumers could both benefitted from the regulations. “We hope that the harvest in March could gave us around 3 million tons of rice, possibly even 3.5 tons, so that we could balance the rice price in the market,” said Arief.
