Papua - Traditionally, much of the policing is not exposed by the national media. One form of traditional policing is talking or sitting down with traditional, religious and community leaders in a particular area. This continues to be echoed by the Papuan Regional Police. Through Noken Community Development, traditional leaders' sambang activities were formed in a special program called Care for Public Order Security.
Noken Tolikara Community Development led by Police Inspector Second Class Ibar Salurapa with Brigadier Petrus Hamokwarong and Police Brigadier First Class Jordan P. Bonay on Sunday 12 December 2021 at 13.00 Western Indonesian Time came to visit the residence of Mr Wempi Wenda as a Community Leader and Kimibur Village Resident.
Saying many thanks to the community members who have been willing to accept us to stay in touch and discuss Community Security and Order in Kimibur Village, Karubaga District.
Through the visit, Noken Community Development, in this case, Police Inspector Second Class Ibar, invites community leaders and citizens to jointly maintain environmental security so that the Public Order and Security Situation remains safe and conducive. This is intended to carry out routine activities or activities that feel safe and run smoothly.
The Noken Community Development team also hopes that the community can cooperate and play an active role to jointly assist the Indonesian National Police in maintaining security in their respective environments. This will undoubtedly impact the Public Order and Security Situation in Karubaga District and the Tolikara Regency area in general so that it is safe and conducive. Furthermore, it also affects community social activities and government services that occur in an orderly manner without interference, pressure, threats or intervention from other parties.
"We hope that the community members can take advantage of the time and opportunities available to fill activities with positive things, for example, by working for income, gardening or other useful activities." Police Inspector Second Class Ibar said that afternoon.
The Community Development team also requested that community leaders and citizens independently conduct an Environmental Security System with active patrol together in turns so that the environment where they live is safe.
"In this December, the Community Development Task Force hopes that community leaders and residents must be wise in responding to the development of the situation, not to be easily instigated or provoked by individuals or parties who want to divide the unity of the nation by spreading false news or hoaxes, as well as invitations to act contrary to government policy," concluded Police Inspector Second Class Ibar.
The Care for Public Order Security activity ended at 14.30 Eastern Indonesian Time. This activity is a bit much. However, it strengthens cooperation between the Community Development Task Force and community leaders in carrying out the Community Development Noken Program related to security and public order. At the same time, it creates a sense of care and empathy between the apparatus and the community leaders who are present and directly visit the residents who are doing their activities, which are felt by the community and strengthen the partnership ties.
The presence of the Community Development Task Force by visiting and involving community leaders in addressing problems also has a positive impact because the roles and figures in the social strata are very influential and receive recognition and become role models from the community.
