Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. Disaster-hit residents in Takengon, Central Aceh, staged a peaceful protest at the Central Aceh Regent’s Office on Tuesday (2/12/2025), demanding immediate access to rice, basic goods, and fuel after a week without aid.
“What is the administration even doing? There has been no response at all. If the Regent cannot handle this, he should step down,” said Rudi, one of the residents, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Protesters said they have yet to receive any assistance since flash floods and landslides devastated the region, leaving communities without food, clean water, LPG, or fuel. Electricity remains out and communication networks have not fully recovered.
Local disaster officials confirmed limited supplies have arrived, with only 6.5 tons of rice distributed after being split with neighboring Bener Meriah. Road access remains cut off, hampering relief efforts. Authorities report 22 deaths and 23 people still missing.
