Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Immigration Office has detained three people suspected of falsifying documents for a Republic of Indonesia passport application.
"Three suspects have been detained, consisting of one foreigner and two Indonesian, who allegedly assisted in the fraudulent passport application," said Ronald Arman Abdullah, theHead of Jakarta Central Immigration, at a press conference on Friday (9/8/2024).
The case began with suspicion from the Document Verification Section regarding a passport application by a Chinese national, identified as CZ (61), on Wednesday. Suspect CZ, assisted by two Indonesians, identified as JA (52) and SS, claimed CZ was a disabled elderly person with speech impairments.
During the application process, discrepancies in the provided documents, including ID cards and birth certificates, were detected. Scanning the QR code revealed incorrect personal data, as reported by antaranews.com.
The suspects face charges under Law No. 6 of 2011 on immigration, with penalties of up to five years in prison or fines up to Rp 500 million. Suspect CZ will also face deportation and entry restrictions.
