Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Central Java Police Special Criminal Investigation Unit have arrested hoarders of subsidized diesel fuel in Brebes. The suspect acquired the subsidized diesel by buying the fuel in jerry cans from two gas stations in Brebes. The Director of Special Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Java Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Dwi Subagio states that police received informations from Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency that there was a misuse in Brebes for personal gains. “After an investigation on September 7th 2023, officials found three motorbikes who were refueling subsidized Bio-diesel which to be stored in a warehouse in Bulakamba. In that operation we arrest a man initialed AB from Bulakamba, Brebes,” says Dwi. Dwi then explains the modus operandi of the criminal action in which suspects used motorbikes to refuel Bio-diesel fuel in the nearest gas station using recommendation letter from regional office. The suspects then fuel the diesel with jerry cans and then stored it at their warehouse. “They have done the criminal actions since June 2023 and the diesel has been sold with industry diesel rice to fishermen in Tegal,” says Dwi. With the arrest by the police, there are several evidence secured which are 11 tons of subsidized diesel, 8,000 liters capacity tank truck, an ankle truck, and a fuel pump. Police have also examined 18 witnesses including fuel experts. Suspect will be charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas with the threat of a maximum prison sentence of six years and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion.
