Inp.polri.go.id - Palangkaraya. The Central Kalimantan Regional Police reaffirmed a strict law enforcement policy against individuals and corporations committing illegal land burning.

Speaking in Palangkaraya on Friday (11/9/2026), Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan said that authorities have processed 62 forest and land fire cases, naming 25 individuals as suspects.

"Strict action is taken to provide a deterrent effect and prevent recurring fires," he said.

In addition to individual suspects, police escalated an investigation into a corporation operating in East Kotawaringin Regency to the formal investigation phase.

Officers collaborated with the Indonesian National Police (INP) Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) to examine fire sources, noting that the company lacked mandatory fire suppression infrastructure.

Chief Iwan reiterated that law enforcement targets both individuals and corporate entities violating fire prevention regulations, urging the public to refrain from using fire to clear land.
