inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto emphasized the importance of collaboration with religious leaders and community organizations to maintain public security and order.
This was conveyed during a meeting with the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, and his staff.
The meeting discussed the continued collaboration between the INP and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in supporting a safe community life. Both parties believe that community involvement is necessary so that efforts to maintain order do not rely solely on the police force, but also on the social and religious community.
Suyudi stated that the police have received support from NU officials in carrying out their duties as public servants, including through organizational networks at the regional level. This support serves as capital to strengthen cooperation, the benefits of which can be directly felt by the community.
"We also appreciate and thank the Chairman and the NU leadership, because, frankly, we have received significant assistance and have always been working collaboratively in the field in carrying out our duties in providing services to the community," said Suyudi.
According to Suyudi, efforts to maintain security align with the spirit of amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil), which involves enjoining good and preventing evil. This shared spirit serves as the foundation for strengthening collaboration in building a peaceful and orderly society.
"Our hope is that what we have synergized so far can run even better and be more felt by the community," said Suyudi.
NU Chairman KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz welcomed the gathering. He stated that NU has had a focus on community service from the beginning, including supporting an orderly lifestyle so that people can carry out their activities and worship properly.
Gus Kikin also assessed that the rapid development of the times requires joint involvement, particularly in guiding the younger generation and maintaining social life. He hopes the relationship between PBNU and INP can become even closer and benefit the wider community.
