Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Monce Brury, the Head of the Manado Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), confirmed on Saturday (3/3/3034) the tragic discovery of a child who had drowned in the Manado Polytechnic River, North Sulawesi .
The victim, Muhamad Muzair (7), a resident of Panda Mas Lingkungan 7 housing complex, was attending Quran classes at a mosque when a heavy downpour prompted him to chase after his lost sandal. Unfortunately, he slipped into a drain and was swept away by the current.
Local residents, aided by the Basarnas team using rubber boats, conducted a search along the river. The child's lifeless body was eventually discovered on the riverbank.
"Our team coordinated closely with local residents during the search. Although we were gearing up for a thorough operation, the victim was found just 500 meters from the initial site," Brury said.
The victim's remains were promptly evacuated and taken to his home for funeral preparations.
Brury called on local residents, especially those living near rivers and cliffs, to remain vigilant due to the ongoing heavy rainfall expected until the end of March.
