Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cianjur Sub-regional Police closed the main route toward Puncak-Cipanas areas from the Gentur Lamp Monument on Saturday (2/5/2026) to prevent total gridlock following a significant surge in vehicle volume during the long holiday weekend, resulting in traffic queues stretching over five kilometers.
"The number of cars in the Puncak tourist area has increased, causing density throughout the Puncak-Cipanas route with tailbacks exceeding five kilometers," said Cianjur Police Traffic Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Aang Andi Suhandi as cited by antaranews.com.
He explained that Jakarta-bound motorists are currently being diverted to alternative routes via Jonggol or Sukabumi.
The police have implemented situational one-way systems and "open-close" schemes to break up the congestion. Authorities predict high traffic volume will persist for the next two days. Drivers are also urged to remain vigilant against extreme weather, as heavy rain in the Puncak area increases the risk of fallen trees and floods.
